2012 Christmas Party

Can you believe that Christmas is in two short weeks…eek?!?! I struggled a little bit this year creating the Holiday printables collection. At first I wanted to created a beautiful “Grown-Up” damask print with different tones of red but after making a few items I got stuck:( So I switched gears and went with a fun party set with red, green, pink and blue.

A Wicked Halloween Party

Happy October everyone!  Last week I set up a Cupcake & Cocktails “Wicked” Halloween Party to showcase our new printable Halloween set.  At the moment bold stripes are one of my favorite party trends.  From the striped straws and cupcake liners to the rugby striped party printables – I love the bold look of the black and white with hint of color.

Wicked Halloween Party | 505-design.com

For the main table setting I used a green plastic table cloth with a black lace overlay and a beautiful candelabra centerpiece.  The name plates for each guest were created using our editable food labels.

The flower arrangement is a rectangle glass vase that I covered using the pattern paper that is included in the set and topped if off with some beautiful lace.

These witch hat cupcake toppers are made of mini and standard size cupcake wrappers (tutorial via Half Baked).

These witch feet are just adorable – simply stack up mint Oreo’s and top with mini cupcakes and witch feet. A word of caution though – place them in a stable spot where they won’t get bumped.

Holly Jolly Christmas Party

I created this party to display my new printable set and give some easy and inexpensive ideas for anyone hosting/attending a Kids Christmas Party this year. I wanted everything to be very  lighthearted and child-like, of coarse Santa had to be included. Thank you so much to my good friend Monica of Andary Studio who captured the party perfectly and Tracie’s Sweet Treats for coming through at the last minute with delicious Red Velvet Cupcakes.

Christmas Party Printable Set
I set up my kids craft table – complete with plastic table cloth, it may not be the fanciest but they are 4 years old so it’s functional.
I used my daughters dress up trunk to display the dessert.

Christmas Party North Pole Cupcake

My main inspiration came from these adorable North Pole Cupcakes
To create the hot coco cups simply dip the rim in red chocolate and then again in red sugar sprinkles. This can be done a few days in advanced to save on time.

Christmas Party Kids Place Setting

Various sizes of round and square paper plates for the place setting and the printable food label for the place card.

Hot Chocolate in a Jar

These lovely “North Pole Survival Kits” are so simple to make (tutorial coming soon!)

Milk Bottles – Starbucks frappuccino bottles cleaned and wrapped with drink bottle label topped off with 2% and a red polka dot straw
Rudolf Peeps – Chocolate Rudolf peeps on a lollipop stick – pretty simple but way cuter then throwing them on a plate.
Red Velvet Cupcakes – I added the red polka dot liner after with a dap of frosting and topped it with the printable cupcake topper

North Pole Snow Mounds

North Pole Snow Mounds – Mini powdered sugar doughnuts. I used a red striped straw cut in half and glued the mini North Pole flag and a sixlet to the top.

Kids Christmas Party Dessert Ideas

I covered clothes pins with glitery green paper to attach the red foam stockings and placed the centerpiece circle in the middle of the string.
Candy Cane Mint Milanos – Milano Cookies dipped half way in red chocolate and then dipped in crushed up candy canes/peppermints
Reindeer Doughnuts – Chocolate covered doughnut, pretezel cut in half for antlers, white chocolate chip for eyes and red ball for nose – make sure you remove that before serving;)

Kids Christmas Party

This party was created with mostly inexpensive store bought items displayed in a super cute way. Total, the desserts cost a whooping $25 and in all the party was less then $100.

North Pole Party Sign

Thank you again to everyone who helped put the party together

Elf on the Shelf Ideas Part 1

Chippy, our Elf on the Shelf has been with us for almost 10 days and I think he maybe running out of places to fly back to. After searching the internet all I found was some naughty little Elves, making powder sugar snow angles and having marshmallow fights. My kiddies don’t need any ideas on how to get into trouble, they do a fine job all by themselves. Here are some elf on the shelf ideas – from the traditional hiding in the Christmas Tree to cleaning the bathroom mirror.

Elf on the Shelf Idea1. Sneaking in the Stocking and 2. Hiding out in the Christmas Tree

Elf on the Shelf Idea - Fixing Something3. Fixing Toys with some Tools

Elf on the Shelf Idea - Drinking Hot Coco

4. My four year old came up with this idea “Chippy must get cold flying all the way to the North Pole every night, we should make him Hot Chocolate” – she is so thoughtful of others.

Elf on the Shelf Idea - Taking a Shower5. Taking a Shower – I used toilet paper for his “towels”

Elf on the Shelf Idea - Listening to iPod

6. Listening to some Christmas music on the iPod
Elf on the Shelf Idea - Reading a Book

7. Reading a book…like The Elf on the Shelf

Elf on the Shelf Cleaning Windows and Vacuuming

8. Cleaning Windows or 9. Vacuuming

Elf on the Shelf - Playing Dress Up

10. Playing Dress up (for those of you with boys dressing up like a super hero)

Elf on the Shelf - Making a Snack with Play Food

11. Making himself a snack in the play Kitchen

Elf on the Shelf Idea - Typing Letter to Santa

12. Typing a letter to Santa
Elf on the Shelf Idea - Eating an Apple

I hope this sparks some creativity when placing your Elf on the Shelf tonight, I will be back on Monday with 12 more ideas.

North Pole Breakfast 2011

Thanks to the wonderful post by Little Pumpkin Grace I decided to start a new family tradition – have The Elf on the Shelf bring a special “North Pole Breakfast”. Our first official Breakfast of Elves was a complete success. They were a little confused at first but once they saw he brought candy for breakfast, the real excitement set in.

Elf on the Shelf Breakfast

North Pole Breakfast

Our friendly North Pole Elf had quite the spread for us.

North Pole Breakfast

Rudolf Doughnuts, Santa’s Special Hot Coco, Reindeer Trail Mix, North Pole Snow Mounds and Candy Cane Milk
He also left a wonderful personalized note and a couple of suggestions on how to remain on the Nice List this year.

After over sleeping by an hour, I finally got them up to see the surprise.
Here is the confused and still very sleepy munchkins as they got the first glimpse of the table set up.

North Pole Breakfast - Gifts

Still a little unsure of what is going on, but there was presents, so they went with it.North Pole Breakfast

And then the questions began, I can’t even tell you how many she asked.
Every single picture I took, her mouth was open and she was either asking or telling me something about our elf friend, it was adorable.

North Pole Breakfast

My sweet little guy was just laughing and smiling away.

Chippy the Elf

After much discussion they decided our happy little elf should be named, Chippy

The sneaky little guy that made the whole thing happen;) Thanks, Chippy

2011 Printable Halloween Collection

I am very excited to share our brand new Printable Halloween Collection.  When I sat down to create this Halloween Party set I wanted to make sure it included all the things you would need to celebrate this spooktaculor holiday. Weather you are having a monstrous Halloween bash or a fun play date, this set has you covered! A big thanks to Monica at Andary Studio , she did an amazing job capturing all the photos.

I backed the Enter {at your own risk} party sign with some black sparkly cardstock and bright purple cutout spider web cardstock paper.

I filled my kids toy storage container with all the party goodies.  These little cubbies are great for kid friendly parties because everything is at there level.
