2012 Christmas Party

Can you believe that Christmas is in two short weeks…eek?!?! I struggled a little bit this year creating the Holiday printables collection. At first I wanted to created a beautiful “Grown-Up” damask print with different tones of red but after making a few items I got stuck:( So I switched gears and went with a fun party set with red, green, pink and blue.

AJ’s Surfs Up Birthday Party

I recently styled my son’s Surfs Up Party to celebrate his 3rd birthday!  Originally, we planned on a shark party ~ but I changed it last minute after seeing the adorable Surf Legend Collection at Gymboree.   I love the blue, orange & brown color scheme and my friend happen to have a bin full of Hawaiian decorations left over from my Bachelorette Party {let’s just say we could not stop laughing when we opened the storage container;-) }

Boys Surfing Party

The surfboard backdrop inspiration came from Holly at Paisley Petal Events.  My husband is not much of a handyman so cutting out surfboard shapes from plywood- as simple as it may have been – would be TOTALLY out of the question.  Instead I created a mini version using a 20 x 30 photo print,  foam board and the Centerpiece Circles (tutorial coming soon!).

Surfing Party Cupcakes

Surfing Party

I love making the sweets and treats for my little ones parties.  This year I made cake pops, chocolate covered Oreos and shark bite donuts. I’m way to OCD to attempt the cupcakes so I left those to the professionals.

Surf Board Cookies

My sister stepped in to save the day after I COMPLETELY forgot to pick up the cookies from the bakery…OOPS.  She did a great job considering it was an hour or two before the party.

Surfs Up Birthday Banner

Surf Party Favor Bags

Each little surfer received his/her own bag of goodies.  They especially loved the shark snack container filled with Skittles (per the birthday boys request).

Surf Party Food

For dinner I served chicken kabobs and an assortment of yummy summer salads

Little Surfer Boys

The best part of the whole day was watching these two surfer dudes hang ten on the surf boards!

I am still in disbelief  that I have a THREE year old and  nearly 5 year old:(
I really don’t know where the time has gone but I am trying to enjoy every last second with both of them

If you are interested in having your own Surfs Up Party check out all the great items now available in the shop.

Safari Party {Another Happy Customer}

This wonderful party comes from my friend Autumn who claims to be “un-crafty”.  When you see the photos of her sons birthday party I think you will disagree.  She contacted me last fall to create some custom party decorations after searching high and low for Safari party decor.

Cookies & Milk Party

As I was sifting through all the party photos I have yet to post, I realized that I skipped over my sweet nieces third birthday party – I’m such a bad Aunt. I had been wanting to create a cookies & milk party for some time so when my sister-in-law called me with the “Brookie’s Cookies & Milk” idea I was very excited to get started. She did such a good job putting everything together. From the homemade cake that looked like a giant chocolate chip cookie to the personalized aprons and cookie cutters that each kiddie received. The cookies in a jar gave my brother-in-law and sister-in-law quite the headache…but they did turn out delicious.

Boys Golf Birthday Party – Part 1

My little guy turned two over the summer and we celebrated with an oh-so-cute Golf Birthday Party. He is all boy and loves anything that includes a stick and ball, which made choosing the golf theme fairly easy. We had fun golfing games, snacks & treats and each little caddie even received there very own golf bag. The post was getting fairly large I decided to split it in two parts.  Part one covers the favor and dessert table and part two will focus on the food and games. Enjoy!

Golf Birthday Party Favors by 505-design.com

Each “Golf Pro” received his/her own set of golf clubs (thank you Target dollar section for saving the day!), a blue or green visor I purchased at Joann’s, practice golf balls and a water bottle to stay hydrated on the course.

Golf Birthday Party Favors by 505-design.com

I created the backdrop for the dessert table with a tan table cloth I had and pinned it to the window frame with thumb tacks (my husband wasn’t too happy about that one…opps!) I used 12” white tissue paper balls that I purchased from Devra Party and hung them by grosgrain ribbon.
I wanted to use items on the dessert table that went along with the theme so I racked my brain for some golf terms. The sign over the table was “Caddie’s Sweet Spot” (sweet spot refers to the center point of the face of the club).

There was a “water hazard” ~ blue jell-o jigglers, “wormburners” (which is the term for a ball that skims the grass) ~ chocolate pudding pack topped with crumbled Oreos and gummy worms plus a sand trap of “doughnut hole in one” ~ made with powder sugar doughnuts and crumbled graham crackers for the sand.

Golf Cake Pops, Water Hazzard Jello & Doughnut Hole in One by 505-design.com

I also made cake pops that resembled golf balls ~ some like a lollipop and others with a golf flag and the number two for the birthday boy. The kids had a few candy choices and a small bag to fill so they could bring treats home.

2011 Printable Halloween Collection

I am very excited to share our brand new Printable Halloween Collection.  When I sat down to create this Halloween Party set I wanted to make sure it included all the things you would need to celebrate this spooktaculor holiday. Weather you are having a monstrous Halloween bash or a fun play date, this set has you covered! A big thanks to Monica at Andary Studio , she did an amazing job capturing all the photos.

Let’s Play Ball

Wow, what a month! I can’t believe it has been nearly 3 weeks since I have posted. Custom orders and my Niece’s 1st Birthday have kept me super busy these past couple of weeks (plus the kiddies and the hubby and the day job).

Last weekend was my sweet little Niece’s party and it was amazing. My sister-in-law did a fabulous job with everything and I can’t wait to share all the pictures. I am working hard at editing them and getting the Chocolate Factory listing up in the shop.

At the party a friend ask if I had any ideas for her son’s baseball themed first birthday party, of coarse I do! She really liked the customized banner and food labels so we came up with this.

The baseball themed banner will be available at the end of next week along with 4 other new party designs!

Barbie Doll Inspired Birthday Party Theme

I have been fairly busy with custom orders lately and I can’t wait to share all of them.
First up is an adorable Barbie Inspired Birthday theme that I created for a wonderful friend. Her daughter is turning 5 at the end of the month and she is having the local bakery make her the traditional “Barbie in a Cake”.
{Picture from cakes.com }
Barbie and I go way back (well, not that far back since I believe I played with Barbie’s until I was 12…maybe 13). I started with a version of the Barbie face silhouette and added items from there. Originally I was thinking the traditional pink and black, but since it’s spring time my friend suggested adding yellow and other bright colors. Here are some of the items, I am so happy with how it turned out.
The Barbie theme will be available mid April 2011 (right after I finish up the Chocolate Factory theme). However, if you are interested in your own Barbie theme party before then contact me and I can set up a custom listing for you in Etsy.
Thanks for visiting!

It all started with a little airplane

Here is a brief bio of how this all started. I’m Cathy creative artist and owner of 505 Design+Paperie, my online shop that specializes in printable party decor for any occasion.

I started out way back when in web site design, graduated college with a degree I will probably never use, and worked my way through a career in marketing & advertising. It wasn’t until the birth of my sweet little angel baby that I discovered my true passion for design.

Creating birth announcements and invitations really wasn’t too far off from my day job; in fact the only real difference was the excitement I had every time I received a new order. Business was good and it was the perfect little venture in-between all those late night feedings and early morning wake up calls.
Then baby no.2 came along and I had to close up shop. Between the 20+ hours I put in at my day job, the 150+ hours I put towards my family, there was just no time left for my passion. It was only when I started planning for my sons first birthday party that I found my true labor of love and myself again.
My goal for 505 Design+Paperie is to offer irresistible designs at affordable pricing. I hope you enjoy my shop as much as I enjoyed designing the items it in.
Here are a few images from my sons party. Enjoy!

And here is the full airplane collection that I now offer in my Etsy Shop.
